Correlations Discovered Between Poverty and Obesity

An analysis of data from the U.S Census Bureau and the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System shows that there is a positive correlation between the percentage of poverty and the percentage of obesity for the population of each state. In general, the data shows that states with greater amounts of poverty also have higher levels of obesity within the population. This suggests that a lack of access to more expensive health resources may contribute to an increase in a state's obesity output.
